Who we are

Book Vault Elite started in 2018 when two Limerick-based bibliophiles realised that sourcing a specific first edition or getting a Victorian binding properly repaired meant weeks of emails, uncertain pricing, and crossed fingers. We set out to fix that.

Today our team of four includes a trained conservator, a cataloguing specialist with ten years of auction-house experience, and two dedicated book scouts who attend trade fairs from Dublin to London monthly. We keep a network of over 60 trusted dealers across Europe.

Every project begins with a conversation. You tell us what you need. A signed Beckett? A complete set of Ordnance Survey maps of Munster from the 1840s? A modern first edition of Sally Rooney for a gift? We quote a flat fee, agree a timeline, and get to work. No hourly billing surprises.

Our workshop sits on Barrington Street in the heart of Limerick city, where we carry out conservation, rebinding, and custom slipcase construction on-site.

What we do

Six focused services, each priced transparently before work begins.

Rare book sourcing

We locate specific titles, editions, and printings through auction houses, private dealers, and estate sales. Average turnaround is three to six weeks for most requests within Europe.

Book restoration

Spine repair, page cleaning, de-acidification, and reattachment of loose boards. We use reversible conservation-grade adhesives and Japanese tissue for mending tears.

Custom binding

Full leather, half leather, or cloth bindings crafted to your specifications. Choose from goatskin, calf, or buckram. Gold tooling and marbled endpapers available.

Library curation

We design and stock personal or corporate libraries. Tell us the themes, the shelf space, and the budget. We select, source, and arrange every volume.

Appraisal and valuation

Insurance valuations, estate assessments, and pre-sale estimates for individual volumes or entire collections. Written reports delivered within ten business days.

Protective storage solutions

Acid-free slipcases, clamshell boxes, and archival sleeves made to measure. We also advise on shelving materials, humidity control, and light exposure for home libraries.

Common questions

Quick answers to things clients ask most often.

How long does a typical book search take?
Most European searches resolve within three to six weeks. Genuinely scarce items can take longer. We set a maximum search period at the quoting stage so you know exactly when to expect a result or a refund of the search fee.
Do you work on books printed after 1950?
Yes. We handle everything from medieval manuscripts to modern first editions. Our conservator adjusts techniques depending on the paper type, binding method, and adhesive used in each era.
Can I visit the workshop?
Absolutely. We welcome visits by appointment Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Ring ahead so we can have your project ready to discuss in person.
What does restoration cost?
It depends on the damage. A simple spine repair on a cloth binding starts at around €85. A full rebind in leather with gold tooling can run to €600 or more. We always quote before starting, and there are no hidden charges.
Do you ship internationally?
We ship across Ireland, the UK, and the EU. Packages are double-boxed with acid-free tissue and foam inserts. Every shipment is insured to the full agreed value of the book.
